Hi Marcy - I'm beginning to look at different areas with goal of moving in 2010. I'd love to get a bit of land (with water) and build a series of small strawbale rooms... talking of walls! Best wishes, AG
Thank you, much better, I was slow today but no headache or fever and less coughing. I called the Dr. to see if he thinks I should be checked for this fungi, or what is recommended to turn compost again. I am afraid to go near it. I am awaiting a call.
Thanks for the info link you sent. I will pass it along to my sister. She may already know of the site as she has scoured the internet pretty well :)
Weird that you could not send an email. I checked my settings and couldn't see anything that would prevent it...maybe I have it set that only "friends" can email but I sure can't find it LOL! So, I will add you as a friend. Let me know if that allows you to email. It is a great test and I love what you are doing in your yard and would like to KIT.
Oh....how will you - do tell - gather your seeds. That's what I was going to try to do and felt a bit of anxiety in using that space to plant for this season...and soo.....i uprooted it and have it laying on the ground. bummer, now hearing you in that tension....wish I'd waited.
So...tell me how you will gather those seeds.....please :-) I've left some lovely dill - it's going to seed and I've left cilantro too, which is seeding. Any tips for me there? I've been wanting to learn how to gather the seeds and then what to do.
We've had the most amazing hatch of mosquito hawks! They're everywhere, which is good as we have an abandoned pool down the street. I've never seen so many bugs. Of course, they're about to start spraying for West Nile again. Ugh.
I love lady bug larvae! They look like little alligators (act like 'em too) :-D

Isn't Dolce Verde amazing? I just loved it, and can't wait to see the Bee Oasis one of these days. You are right, I think for the most part, when the chickens are content, they are pretty quiet. and I'm sure they are VERY content at Jennifer's!!!
"hi anthea =)

"good to hear that. i don't blame you, i'd be avoiding it too. i think with some extra precautionary measures in the future, you can avoid this. i've read even dirt can harbor it ( as well as many other things) for now get LOTS of rest and just heal."
"ericka,
hopefully you don't consider this out of line, but i came across a website that may or may not be helpful for your nephew and i thought i'd pass it on. was going to send it as an email, but don't have that option on your page. i have lots of…"
"sue, thanks for your concern. i've just been realy busy lately. i got my wisdom teeth out about a month ago and i think that slowed me down a little bit for a few weeks. lately i've been in a mad rush to try and get stuff done before it gets too…"
"hey peg! the earth oven class is a little out of my price range right now, but thanks for offering.i am planning on going to the foor preserving class the 18th though, if you're interested in that?"
"i'm an amateur at seed collecting so i may not be the best person to answer that question, but my plan was to wait until the plants died and then collect the dried pods with the seeds in them. funny you mention it because i was planning on tearing…"
"thank you so much for the kind comments. i just have a little point and shoot sony camera, but with digital you can take a million so it's a lot easier to get good ones. i have a lot of fun doing it."
"thank you , and yes, it is arugula. i'm waiting to collect the seeds which seems to be taking forever. the bees and ladybugs are happy it's still there though =)"
"hi debbie,
the more aeration the better. lots of holes. i got mine from the city of phx too and am thinking of drilling a few more holes in it. (i also took the lid off and turned it upside down) the tumbler that your hubby made is very nice!"
"little baby chicks! oh, so cute. i went on the tours of the bee oasis and dolce verde this weekend and was amazed at how quiet the chickens were. how cool!"

Do you plan to attend the Oct 3 tour of the Wilson Acres in Tempe? I'd love a ride, if so!
