  • Hi Jane,

I dont get on this site often enough, but contact phn. is 480-270-2141 thx,

  • Thank You :)
  • Thank you so much. I am glad to be a part of the Valley Permaculture Alliance. I am looking into possibly getting a few goats and chickens to add to my home but first have to verify the zoning. I have been gardening for about 5 years on and off and this year I am putting a 120 percent effort into it. I have some in ground stuff and some container stuff. My goal right  now is to buy some 2X6 cedars so I can build some planter boxes and go organic completely. I am very happy to be here and look forward to all the blogs and information.
  • Thanks for the welcome.
  • Thanks Jane!

I am sure ther is much to learn and I am particularly curious about bag gardening , my husband and I have been devating about what is best for a vegetable/flower bed. I think to beging with and the lack of funds to built something more permanent

  • Yes, he is a Cav and he is mine (ours). We also have Maggie, a puppy farm rescue who lived in a crate for her first 6 years. Now she is just a happy little dog, running, jumping, chasing birds - just being a dog. She refused to breed so she had to go. Our very good fortune. Both dogs give us much joy and unlimited entertainment.

Love your chicken pics. Bookkeeping huh? I operate a small bookkeeping service
  • Hi Jane! I actually grew up in the NW, my hubby and i move to SC to see if we wanted to do Chiropractics, but decided to follow our dreams ..im doing Oriental medicine and he is doing sound engineering :) i loved the NW while i was there but after living in SC for two year am sure i cant go back to the gray drearyness! with the prickly pears where do you go pick them at if you dont have any at your house? I would love to try some! and Id like to do some wild foraging if you know of any one who does this maybe a few of us can get to gether some time to pick some desert fuits!
  • I love your photo's. Now that my day slowed down, I thought I would take a look at your photo's. Your array of chickens are awesome and I love the garden! I hope they integrate well. Also my daughter noticed your purse, she thought it was cute!
  • Thanks Chris, do they sell just one kine, so even I can't get mixed up?
  • Yes, it's my absolute fave pic of Kitsu...

"Hi Morgan, wow - thanks for all the information! I have used the fermented food scraps in compost, and most often have buried it in various places in the yard. My strawberries absolutely loved it (I had buried it before I planted them originally). I…"

"Hi Morgan, as you say, EM has been around for some time; Dr. Teruo Higa ran across it several decades ago and realized how effective it could be in a number of different ways. I've heard that Hawai'i does have quite an operation going. Aside from…"

Jane Doyle replied to Morgan Coffinger's discussion Bokashi Composting! in Soil Builders
"Jeff, you'd be amazed at how easy it is to make your own Bokashi. I've been doing it for years, using Effective Microorganisms I've purchased (currently I use http://www.Teraganix.com), unsulphured molasses, unchlorinated water, and a 25# bag of…"
