The chickens are mostly for eggs, although we'll put them in the pot if they're not keeping busy. Too many roosters and they'll get the same fate. I need enough roosters for a new crop of chicks next year though.
When they start laying I'll have enough to sell at the farmer's market in Tucson, or Green Valley. People around here definitely appreciate organic foods.
Great to hear that you sponsor kids! It's a great way to raise your kids' awareness of the bigger world out there.
