  • Yes to the jewelry, unfortunately no to knitting. I recently took up sewing and it's been taking up quite a bit of my time. How's the knitting going for you? I may take it up in the future if I find more time. I've always wanted to learn to knit socks.
  • Ah yes! I remember you knitting a coat for Knight. Awesome meeting you here :D
p.s. I see the coat turned out quite well.
  • I wore my chicken earrings to Christmas dinner in France and everybody thought they were just wonderful! Vive les poulets! Merci beaucoup! Diann
  • Hey Judy,
I don't think I am going to make it tonight---low energy and such. I hope to see you soon, though.
  • Cool. I am glad you're going. See you there!
  • I know who you got her from! I love this group of peeps. Have a great weekend...
  • Love the naming scheme, I wanted to name all of ours hens after famous authors: Anais, Virginia etc....but our daughter insisted on Disney princesses & cartoon characters names instead (uggh)...she did decide to name one after herself, me & my mom so now we have: Ariel, Kai Lan, Daisy, Aurora, Bethie, Betty & Zoe. Aren't chickens a blast ! I just love them.

    :)
  • BTW, do you have anyone to watch over the "kids"? We'd be happy to check in on them. Let me know.
  • I'm so sorry to hear about that, funerals are such a downer and, of course, rainchecks are acceptable. Our thoughts and prayers are with you both. Have a safe trip and please don't try to "kill" Carlos anymore. There has been enough tragedy. (kidding) :-)
  • Either day works for us. Can't wait, they're double scrumptious!

Judy Tobar replied to Carmel Bartek's discussion Which chickens are best in Maricopa County? in Micro Livestock
"I'm not sure which are the best, but I can tell you from experience that the high crested breeds like the Polish chickens have a terrible time in the heat so you may want to avoid them, even though they are beautiful birds. "

Judy Tobar replied to Erica (Dawnfire)'s discussion Treadle feeder nightmare in Micro Livestock
"Wild Birds Unlimited sells freeze dried meal worms, which I find more convenient and the chickies seem to love them just as much, or you should be able to find live ones at most pet stores (petco, petsmart..) or bait shops, or places that sell…"

Judy Tobar replied to Erica (Dawnfire)'s discussion Treadle feeder nightmare in Micro Livestock
"Mine were terrified at first too.  They would run half way across the yard when it came down, but then over time they ran away less and less and eventually they got used to it and now they all use it.  (I have 4 hens)  I think it took them about a…"

Judy Tobar replied to Jane Doyle's discussion Phoenix Magazine would like to talk to East Side Urban Chicken Owners in Micro Livestock
"I hope they find some people to interview--it will be a great subject for an article.  I'm afraid to volunteer, since technically my chickens are illegal, plus there may be a few other code violations in my yard that I'd rather not expose! …"

Judy Tobar replied to Evelyn Navarro's discussion 5 unexplained dead chickens in one morning! in Micro Livestock
"I am so sorry this happened to you. I am wondering if it could be that their drinking water was too cold. I know that seems weird in this heat, when colder is generally better, but I was reading recently that you shouldn't give ice water to dogs in…"

"Yeah, I've been doing some knitting. I like making hats because they're fast and easy and portable. I've even taken projects to the movies to work on if it's not a complicated pattern so I can work in the dark! That's great that you can sew. I've…"
