Hi everyone,

Phoenix Magazine has contacted us to see if we can find two or three folks  in the east valley (i.e. Chandler, Gilbert, Tempe, Mesa) they can talk to about raising chickens in an urban area.  They will be including an article about urban chickens in the valley. One of their reporters may want to come out to one of you to get a look at your setup. If this sounds interesting to you, please email me by 5:00 pm tomorrow (Friday 5/27) with your address, number of chickens, about how long you've been an urban chicken "rancher" (my term) and your contact information. I will pass this along to the Phoenix Magazine reporter, who will be in contact with you if you're a possible subject the article. Please don't put your information here. :)

Thank you!

  • I would love to participate, sounds like fun.  I am in Chandler.  For some reason I am having a hard time sending you an email through this so please email me at gon2thezoo64@hotmail.com and I will reply.  Thanks.

  • I hope they find some people to interview--it will be a great subject for an article.  I'm afraid to volunteer, since technically my chickens are illegal, plus there may be a few other code violations in my yard that I'd rather not expose!  Hopefully the article will be a step to open people's minds to the advantages of keeping urban chickens so this kind of secrecy will become a thing of the past.

  • Love to read the article, but although my landlord is on board with my chooks the HOA is ignorant of them thus far.  Given the vagaries of neighbors I'd like to keep it that way.
    • Best of luck to you! How can any neighbor not feel lucky to have chickens nearby?
