  • Thanks, Ericka. Wow! That was a fast welcome! I just signed up a short time ago.
  • Thank you! I'm looking forward to meeting you and other members of PPG, and learning something about gardening as well.
  • Thanks, Ericka! That tree is at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum. It was too tall to fit in the photo!
  • Thanks its great to be a member of something positive and fulfilling!!!
  • Thank-you, Ericka! My husband and I enjoyed chatting with you and Ryan after the tour Saturday. Glad you enjoy the picture, only two of my plumerias sent up bloom stalks this season but they sure were beautiful(and smelled divine);o)
  • Thanks! We just finished Kelly's four-week class and learned a lot of helpful things there and I'm looking forward to being able to access the forums!
  • Well, I was just getting ready to make one of my favorite blender breakfasts, but glanced at my computer 1st, and reading Jim's bug blender piece.....Actually, so happy to have begun making the acquaintance of you (us!) permaculture folks, Ericka who was nice enough to invite me to her page, Diana who also sent me bamboo growing advice. What a fun way to begin the fall and begin exploring a new path.
  • Thank you we are working very hard at building something nice. Not just for our selves, but our local community as well. We hope to be selling all natural products in the Phoenix area farmers markets starting in November. We will also be selling to local resteraunts, stores, and directly to our community.
  • While grieving having to leave my lakes, rivers, and woodlands, I can already see from what I've scanned through here that gardens can grow here. Thanks for a welcome.
  • Thanks very much, looking forward to getting to know everyone

Ericka replied to Kelly Liston's discussion What is happening to my chicken?? in Micro Livestock
"Fowl Pox most likely, there are both wet and dry versions. Google a bit to see which one you might have. Dry fowl pox it seems to run it's course and clear up on its own. Spread by mosquitos, pretty common."

Ericka replied to Rachel Brumitt's discussion Building Good Soil For Raised Beds in Soil Builders
"The best way to garden here is directly in the ground, not raised beds, unless you are in a really rocky area up on the mountain. Sunken beds hold moisture better in our climate, and all that is really needed is adding organic matter, 50% compost to…"

Ericka replied to Judith Levin's discussion Sick chicken in Micro Livestock
"Sorry for your loss. This time of year is so rough for hens and they are pretty fragile birds. Especially older hens. We use large terra-cotta saucers (like the ones you use under huge pots) raised up a bit on cinder blocks. We change out the water…"
