  • Erika,
I'm game, just tell me what I need to do to get it started.
    Thanks

  • Thanks : )
  • Thanks Erika

The problem for all gardeners is obtaining land that can be used for community gardens. Many cities have had up and running public/private partnerships and Community gardens as part of their City Parks system for years.

Time for Phoenix and the surrounding cities to wake up and join the rest of the world! So I am joining not as much as a gardener. but to make it possible for gardening to flourish in our parks in public and private under used land.

Everything is impossible until someone does it. And I am hopeful this can be done.
  • Ericka,
I would love to put a Biodynamics interest group on your site. How would one go about doing that? And are your guys at all interested in doing that?
Let me know what you think.
    Thanks,
    Tami Staas
  • Thanks for the welcome! Not sure if I should talk to you about this, but I tried to register for the Vegetable Garden Planning series that starts this Sat. I clicked on Register, but nothing happened. Is that all I need to do, or is there a form to fill out? Thanks again!
  • Thanks for the welcome!
  • Hello, Ericka! Great to hear from you...are you still living in the downtown Scottsale area? I was just thinking about Dona...haven't heard from her in more than a year after she moved to NC. How are you doing? I'm looking forward to getting involved with the Permaculture Guild. Do you know if they offer any super-beginner classes? Hard to believe I came from generations of farmers!!
  • Thanks. We live in Phoenix but have a Glendale mailing address, so my zip code made my profile say Glendale. I'll check with Rachel! Take Care!

Ericka replied to Kelly Liston's discussion What is happening to my chicken?? in Micro Livestock
"Fowl Pox most likely, there are both wet and dry versions. Google a bit to see which one you might have. Dry fowl pox it seems to run it's course and clear up on its own. Spread by mosquitos, pretty common."

Ericka replied to Rachel Brumitt's discussion Building Good Soil For Raised Beds in Soil Builders
"The best way to garden here is directly in the ground, not raised beds, unless you are in a really rocky area up on the mountain. Sunken beds hold moisture better in our climate, and all that is really needed is adding organic matter, 50% compost to…"

Ericka replied to Judith Levin's discussion Sick chicken in Micro Livestock
"Sorry for your loss. This time of year is so rough for hens and they are pretty fragile birds. Especially older hens. We use large terra-cotta saucers (like the ones you use under huge pots) raised up a bit on cinder blocks. We change out the water…"
