You are still short the $4.37 for freight cost on your organic chicken feed order.  Did you send the check out?

  • We lost two this summer due to heat, so we haven't been breeding.. waiting for it to cool dow. I have two, maybe three I could part with though. I have recently bought some does that are a new zealand/california cross that I was gonna grow out and see how they do. I believe that they will be breeding age in a few more months. ( like end of november/december time) Won't claim them to be anything special, but they may work? Let me know and you can come over and see'm.
  • Makes me hungry reading about it! Looking forward to visiting you!
  • There will be black, red and gold sex links, Black Copper Maran, Welsummer, Rhode Island Red and Ameraucana chicks. Also have Black Spanish turkeys babies hatching.
  • I'm so happy to know you enjoyed your time here on the farmstead...............learning how to properly butcher poultry. Personally, I so enjoyed our time together! Your interest in life, positive "will do" attitude is your key ingredient for success in whatever you choose to explore. Wish there were more of you around. Many chicks hatching this week. Perhaps next week will work for us to get together?
  • an yes, we are making plans for the rest of the yard. We bought the house in June and the back yard is a blank slate. I am slowly trying to turn my black thumb green and have some lettuce sprouting, herbs in my window sill and flowers popping up, so far all in containers.I look forward to building raised beds for gardening. Going to need some of the classes I see happening thats for sure!

  • Thanks! I looked at a bunch of plans online, bought scrap wood off Craigslist and supplemented with 2x4 and ply wood. We just started with what we had and a mental picture. We are happy with it! Can't wait for the girls to be big enough to use it!

  • You are right! No chicken processing today in the rain. It was so cold and nasty doing farm chores this morning. Had on rain coat and rain pants.....who would have thought in April we'd be cold!

My address is 1250 E. Mesquite St, Gilbert, 85296 Phone 480-892-2604

I am going to have to butcher on Saturday, April 16............before these birds reach 10 pounds! Some are quite large already.

  • It'll be wonderful to have you and Steve come on Saturday! Since I've lived here for 30 years and know the area well, I'll be more than happy to talk with both of you , answering any questions you might have about local acreage. There are pro's and con's about all locations, even which side of the street your property is on! It has to do with the ease of irrigation. Have Steve bring a good list of questions. Looking forward to meeting you , Donna.
  • Well, Donna..........This morning I held a poultry butchering clinic. it was a "hands on" where each person got to kill, scald, pluck and take the innards out, making the chicken ready for the fry pan. This was well attended and loads of fun! Next Saturday i will be repeating the class as there are another 30 birds left to do. Would that be a good time for you and your husband to visit? nothing like breaking him into the reality of Back In Time living!!!!!! if that isn't a good time for you, please get hold of me for another date or time. The clinic is free of charge and from 10am to 1pm.
