  • Hello Dear,
How is everything with you,I picked interest on you after going through your short profile,I have something very vital to disclose to you,but I found it difficult to express myself here, since it's a public site.Could you please get back to me on(brunoserra@outlook.fr)for the full details.
    Have a nice day.
    thanks
    Bruno Serra.

  • Thanks for the update--My Basque hen started siting 4 days ago and since the rooster is gone, I've had to find another source and there is a fellow that works at Western Ranchman who has promised to bring me a few eggs tomorrow.  I am sorry your hens gave up on the project but we tried.....:-)  No big deal--it was an experiment after all.

  • Sheri,

I was wondering what you had worked out for your milk.  :)

  • Hi Sheri I was asked by a friend to give you her email address Her name is Joy Howell she is trying to start a cow coop and was wondering how yours was doing.  Her name again is Joy Howell and her email is joyszoo@netzero.net  Thier farm is up in Golden valley AZ

  • Hey Sheri,

    Couple of questions for you:

I have 3 almost 6 months old Muscovy drakes.  Might you be interested in a swap where you take the 3, and bring me back a dressed one?

Other question, I would like to buy some duckweed from you.  Might you be able to drop it by, whenever you are in Tempe?

    Thanks in advance,

Lis (pronounced Liz, just a funny spelling)

  • Sheri,

I'm looking forward to your bug class!  Will you have bugs available?  Might you be interested in hosting a local producer of BSFL?  Before or after the class?  If its not acceptable by the 'rules',  that's ok too.  I just found out that a gentleman I've been working with on AP stuff has some for sale.

  • Thank you, Sheri.  I wasn't aware of the difference between the two kinds of worms.  Can a pound of red wigglers ($25!) generate a decent amount of compost for a vegetable garden?  Thanks!  Sofia

  • Hi Sheri,
Boy, you've got me excited now!!  I'm going to try to make it tomorrow night.  But I'm not familiar with the Tempe Transportation Center.  I looked on the Permaculture site, but maybe I'm not looking in the right place?
    Thank you,
    Sofia
  • Hi Sheri,

I was thinking of taking your Kitchen Worm Composter Class, but there's just the two of us and I don't know if we would have enough daily scraps to keep the worms happy.  We do, however, have a vegetable garden and wanted to find out if you sell worms or if you know where I can get some.

    Thank you,

    Sofia

  • Sheri,

Sorry to be so slow in answering!  You asked for ideas and my brain froze up ;-)  On a slightly different idea, I noticed you are teaching an AP class in Tempe.  Would you like to offer a tour of my place, maybe after class?  I am located about a mile from where you are teaching.

    Lis

"That sounds very likely! We've found screws and other amazing things in the gullets of our turkeys and chickens that we've butchered. I hope she can pass it quickly!"

Sheri Schmeckpeper replied to Joanna Benton's discussion maggots in my Australorp's vent! in Micro Livestock
"The saline sitz bath sounds like a great idea. In aquaculture, fish parasites are more sensitive to salt than fish, so salt water is used to effectively dehydrate the parasites. I'm guessing this may be the same with the maggots. It's something like…"

Sheri Schmeckpeper replied to K. Neil's discussion Mysterious chicken illness in Micro Livestock
"Sour crop can sometimes be the result of an impacted crop. Have you checked for that? If not, feel her crop. If it feels empty, no worries. If full and pliable, like silly putty, it's impacted. For an impacted crop give some olive oil - a few drops…"

Sheri Schmeckpeper replied to Dr. George B. Brooks, Jr.'s discussion Intro to Aquaponics Class! in Aquaponics
"Thank you, Dr. Brooks. Aquaponics is one of the best gardening methods here in Arizona, and you get fish as well!  A full dinner from your own backyard. What can be better? Only a couple days left before class!"

Sheri Schmeckpeper replied to Dr. George B. Brooks, Jr.'s discussion Is Backyard Aquaponics Affordable and/or Cost Effective? in Aquaponics
"Good morning, Dr. George! This is a great question because every person considering aquaponics should seriously consider this. Here's my take on it:
Affordability is a personal matter based on one's income and other expenses. What's affordable for…"

Sheri Schmeckpeper replied to Victoria Jordan's discussion Is anybody out there raising goats or sheep? in Micro Livestock
"Yes, the way our place is set up, we have about 1/2 acre of pasture, plus a large front yard, side yard, and back yard. It's enough to handle a variety pack of herd animals. :)
We have three cattle (2 dairy and 1 steer) on our pasture. We do have to…"

Sheri Schmeckpeper replied to Victoria Jordan's discussion Is anybody out there raising goats or sheep? in Micro Livestock
"We have a neighbor who has flock of boar goats. They're kept on a pasture and allowed in the front yard on occasion, because they do keep the burmuda lawn mowed. Every plant/tree is protected, though, because that would be their preference. We had a…"

"Well, it's not a total loss. One egg hatched in the late afternoon on the 5th. She/he seemed healthy, but I didn't want to say anything until I knew for sure, and now I know. It's a cute little yellow chick with one black spot on it's back and fuzzy…"

Personally, I would separate her so she doesn't have to compete for food or water and so other birds won't harass her. I would also clean the puncture wound with hydrogen peroxide. Then I'd watch…"

As Cathrine suggested, check her neck. You should be able to feel all the vertibrae lined up . A…"
