"Agree with Ben but have you enough to use as a mulch? Could mulch a pot or two. To break them down place on hard surface and trample with tough boots on, or use a roller etc. They will break down faster in the compost if the particle size is reduced."

"yes, throw them in. They may take longer to breakdown, but they are okay."
