  • Hey Beth,
I'm going to look at my 'email me' button on my page. But my email address is sylatupa@mail.usf.edu
    Chicken run project?!? AWESOME
So, shade and privacy is not a problem.
Go ahead and email me your phone number so we can hash out some more details.
I plan on crafting a general but more specific response to everyone. Including upgrades for steel and concrete, hardware costs, blah blah blah.
If I here you correctly you need some quality shade for your chicks. The dimensions your asking to be shaded are large but I have some creative solutions. I'm emailing you.
  • I didn't make it to the store today. I like the idea of a coup tour. We recently did a home tour where they handed out a map and folks just went to the houses on their own. It actually worked out pretty well because everyone was starting at a place closest to their home.
  • Hi Beth-

I hope Scottsdale Livestock has them, I am on my way over to get organic feed today too!

I love the mason jar!! It does look like what grandmother would have. Oh, how I miss her. She would be amazed at how much I have turned out to be like her... but when she died I was a dressed up, hard working business woman without a speck of dirt nor a cut on my hands. I like to imagine she knows what I am up to now.

  • Have you checked the website http://azhomegrownsolutions.ning.com/ ? Another good one.
  • Congratulations on your chicks. Great photos.
The henhouse is also my compost bin. I was excited about doing this, but I didn't even know how awesome that would be. I come bring them kitchen scraps every couple days, this creates the compost and gives them a treat. They poop right into the compost heap. I cannot believe how quickly everything decomposes with them eating it. I never have to buy litter, just rarely straw spread around. They see me coming with the kitchen scrap bucket and they are so excited! It is like the deep litter method. I just put the compost in the back and they kick it around, once a week I turn the compost pile and rake up the mess they have made into the compost pile. The only thing I didn't think about was a place to put their food out of the weather elements.
  • Just message me and tell me your email address where to send the ebooks.
  • You can get chickens from anywhere. I think CC is a little over priced since he is trying to sell 'show' animals. I bought my chickens from the local feed store. CC hatchery is fine, I got beautiful animals from there.
  • I got the plant at a Master Gardeners plant sale a couple of years ago. They run the sale every year, usually in late October at the extension office on 34th st. and Broadway. You might also want to try logging onto the website for the AZ Rare Fruit Tree Growers, they may be able to give you more information, the website is, http://www.azrfg.com/

  • Hi Beth,
The banana has been growing for about 13 months. I was able to keep it from freezing this past winter using both frost cloth and twinkle lights. From what I've read, it takes about 18 months to get bananas so I'm hoping to have some come August/September. I actually started with 1 stalk and now have 4 growing. Shoot me an email if your ever near the PV Mall and would like to see the plant.
  • Welcome! You may want to check out Rachel's Chicken class on April 25th. Love you carrot photo!
