My neighbor has had three ducks now that have temporarily lost use of one or both legs.  They return to normal after 2 or three days.  Any ideas what is causing this?

"I agree. These sound like good techniques. It is a bit harder when integrating adult birds into a flock. Then it helps if there are larger numbers. Otherwise, it takes longer than described above."

"When your chicks are feathered out you can take them outside, though you may want to give them some nightime heat this time of year.  We always put a box in the big coop that has a "door" into it and a light above. That lets the little ones go out…"

"I have put 'older' chicks in the coop with a warming light and lots of bedding so they have the ability to stay under the warmth or move away."

"Thanks!  we have a similar set up, but what about when they are in that in between stage.  Getting too big for the container but not fully feathered and ready to take on the big coop at night?"

Does anyone have a used raised coop for chicks until they are big enough to go in with the layers and not need a lamp? We would buy it or borrow it.
