Radish Recipes Please

Does anyone have any good radish recipes?  I have red and daikon radishes.  I was so happy with my root garden that I ordered more radish seeds and have decided I am already sick of them.

  • We tried a great Martha Stewart recipe a while ago:  it's a radish-mango salad.. not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for- but it has a great contrast of flavors that really taste great together.

    • Thanks Everyone for the great ideas.

  • Grace, I too love radishes and decided to make a cooked recipe some years ago because it seemed like it was an overlooked side dish. The toasted coriander with the radish is a really nice combination of flavors.

    Radish Coriander Saute

1 bunch radishes, rinsed, trimmed and quartered
2 tablespoons butter, unsalted (or half olive oil and half butter)1 teaspoon coriander seed
    1/2 teaspoon salt
Optional: 2 cups baby spinach or arugula

Toast coriander seed on medium heat in frying pan, until fragrant--do not burn.  Add butter (and olive oil if using), radishes, cover and cook, stirring occasionally for 10 minutes (if you prefer them firmer reduce cooking time to 5 minutes).  If desired add spinach or arugula, stir, cover and cook for 2 minutes longer, stir and serve.

  • Have you tried roasting them?  They're delicious that way.  This is a good way to do them:  Roasted Radishes

  • Daikon radish is quite nice pickled or fermented, especially when mixed with carrots.

If you want to pickle them, here's a recipe similar to what I do:

Here's another that's pretty good, even though a decidedly more "chinese" flavor:

Here's a lacto fermented daikon radish recipe:

We generally just eat the red radishes as is, so I never get much of a chance to do anything else with those!

I like to slice them into a mixed salad with cucumbers, a mix of lettuce leaves and sometimes a little onion. Then just toss it with an herb vinegrette. Yum!
