  Hello all --

  I feel like I'm having a hard time navigating this website. I received notification by email that April Ann Ortiz send a message to the SW Valley Permies saying she was new to the group and what should she be planting right about now. I'd be very interested in following this thread, but can't seem to find any trace of this discussion. What could I be doing wrong?

  It's been a while since I posted to this group, so I'd like to pick your collective brains and hopefully get some useful ideas/suggestions. I recently got a utility quad to help with chores around the ranch. I'm now starting to look at what's available in small dump trailers. Does anyone have a suggestion of a specific manufacturer or purchase source for a sturdy trailer that is worth the asking price? If someone knows of something that is suitable/appropriate for sale used, I'd certainly consider that, too. I've been surfing the ads on Craigslist and not seeing anything suitable.

  Hello Amisa. Low water veggies is something I'm always looking to learn more on. I'm in the process of sorting out the requirements for an aquaponics garden. You can grow anything except root vegetables in this garden and it's low water usage is perfect. I'd suggest googling it and you'll find plenty on it.

  Welcome Jeanne. I know what you mean on the planting. Quite different here than elsewhere. I've attached a planting calendar that will help. Aside from that, DJ had some great suggestions. I use xeriscape in my front yard. Plenty of info on this site, almost overwhelming. Hope this helps. Planting_Calendar.pdf

  I've lived here for going on 12 years now, so not a total newbie to living and coping in the desert. But hubby only got my veggie garden fenced for me this past winter, so the veggie garden is a new project. The chickens have been with me for a year and a half now. Burrito was a wild burro who decided to move in with me when he was a colt in 2001. My level of computer skills..... my computer is not always my friend. Things that others manage to breeze through are just not intuitive to me, so I struggle with a lot of things.

  Well, I am glad to you are here! I have raised chickens for years and the phx perm guild is full of folks who know a lot and are willing to share!! I have gardened in this area for 25 years, so can help with that too. I don't know how comfortable you are with a computer, but there are endless lists on the internet and even in garden shops of lists of which things to plant when. Yes it is going to be very different here but the great thing is you can have a garden year round. Xeriscaping is a technique to learn, it shows how to have a lush garden landscape in the desert with less water. Naturally, you will find all the folks on here very forthcoming with any information you may need, just ask!:)
