About Me:
I am even shyer online than in person, so writing this is not easy! I own a 50 year old house in Tempe, about a mile from ASU, not irrigated. In front, have removed Bermuda, mostly, and have gravel, fruit trees, old roses and raised beds with mixed vegs, herbs, and flowers. This past winter, wrapped the front, south facing, with greenhouse film that covered the raised beds and front porch. Had greenhouse and passive solar heating. It worked really well, but looked awful (one friend kept muttering about Hazmat abatement) Just got 4 Americana chicks 6 weeks ago, hopefully all pullets. The backyard is a disaster, dead grass, dirt, and dog manure.

Thank you. Yours is just the kind of tractor I was thinking about! Your chickens are beautiful, too!! It looks like for wheels you used something similiar to lawnmower wheels, yes? How many nesting boxes are inside the closed in part? Thanks again. I want to try to get it built over the next couple of weekends (if the weather cooperates).
I hope you stick with the hobby though, it is fun!
Sure you can pass the mentoring request on..Been an evening of thought and more of it is starting to settle but it will be good to have someone to run it by.
Only the adult hen of my flock of 3 gets to free range all day. The two pullets only have free run when I am home. This is to protect them from their only predator in my enclosed central Phoenix backyard -- two stray cats that have made their home in my yard. They get along well with the adult hen, but are a little too fascinated by the pullets.
Poop on the patio is a problem, but the garden gets a daily dose of fertilizer. My goal is to keep the patio cleared off so that a quick daily hosing is all that is necessary to keep things under control. So long as my city lot doesn't start smelling like a farm, we'll be ok.
I saw your message on the chickens forum -- and sure we can talk about Mayer...but why would you want to move here? I actually live in Cordes Jct but I worked for the fire dept for many years so I am very familiar with the area, besides just living here.
