  • Hey Lindy!
The book discussion was lively and interesting, as always. There were a few new people too, so that was nice. I brought brownies, but that was the only food. I missed your bread--I heard it's the best!!
    Have a good one!

  • Hi Lindy,
We missed you at the book club on Saturday. I hope all is well!

  • Hi Judy, I'm planning to bring the cream cheese with the bread. Cream cheese is remarkably easy to make. Your actual physical time is only a few minutes but it has to set for a total of 24 hours so you do have to be able to be home at the end of the first 12 hours to move it from the pan into cheese cloth to drain.

Tonopah is 50 miles SE of me so I wouldn't be going there unless I am on my way to PHX. However, I may be able to do that so if you have the info. handy I would like to have it. Thanks :)

I haven't been on Ravelry for awhile - up to my earlobes in beginning of school work and not feeling to great this week. I will check on the hedgehog though - sounds cute.

I'm planning to be there tomorrow - hoping to feel better.

  • Hi Lindy,
I got the raw milk from Healthy Habit health food store in Phoenix, but then I realized it came from a farm called "Save Your Dairy" (weird name, I know--check out their link: http://saveyourdairy.com/ ) in Queen Creek, so next time I may just go there directly. There's a guy in Tonopah I found on Craigslist who sells raw goat milk too. It's too far for me to drive, but isn't that sort of near you? He's not licensed or anything--it's from his own goats and he sells it frozen in 2 liter bottles for $3 each. Let me know if you're interested and I'll find you his info.
Do we get to try your home made cream cheese on Saturday? I'll have to learn how to make cream cheese--I bet it's delicious!!
    See ya soon!
    Judy
p.s. I just bought the "hugable hedgehog" pattern for my next knitting project. Check it out on ravelry--he's really cute!

  • Hi Lindy! I was thinking of you the other day because I made mozzarella cheese for the first time, and it came out great! I used raw cow milk, although the instructions said pasteurized is okay as long as it's not ultra-pasteurized, but maybe the times when yours didn't come out right it might have been because the milk was too pasteurized? See ya soon!
    Have a good evening,
    Judy
  • Hi Lindy,
The pit bull is named Knight, and the white dog is Violet. Those sweaters were a lot of fun, but it's too bad it's hardly ever sweater weather here in the desert! I signed up for an invitation to join ravelry but there are 967 people ahead of me, so it may be a while! That's okay though, I need to get busy with some other projects anyway.
Take care, and give Daisy an extra pat from me. :-)
    Judy
  • Hi Lindy,
Wow, that's amazing how your husband found Daisy. I don't know if you believe in karma, but it seems to me that there was some sort of karmic connection there. Anyway, she sure is a lucky pup to have had your husband come along just when he did.
I uploaded some pics on my page of the pups in their Christmas sweaters if you want to check it out. :-) No, I'm not on Ravelry, but I'll definitely check it out.
See you at the next meeting!
    Judy
  • p.s. I just thought I'd mention that I knit too!! I made my dogs sweaters for Christmas last year. I'll see if I can get some pics up soon!
    Judy
  • Hi Lindy! I'll try to add some more pics of my "babies" once I figure out how--I'm still kind of learning and there are so many fun things to do within the permaculture web site. Oh, rescue dogs are the best kind of all! Daisy Mae is lucky to have found you, though I'm sure you feel lucky to have her too. Violet was a rescue too. I have no idea what she is mixed with but she has cattle-dog style ears, and a lab's love of swimming. Hope to see you again soon!

  • Lindy, I'm not going to be able to make it to the book club on Sat. We had to make an unexpected trip to Ohio. I hope to go to the book club next month.

"Hi Hari,
I agree. There is some shocking information in the book-the kinds of things that the fast food companies are careful to keep well hidden from the public. It's definitely something that more people ought to read to be aware of what goes on…"
