Sustainability Book Club Needs You!

If any permie members are interested in reading book reviews – rather than having to read the entire book – here are a few I have found:Blue Gold book review:http://beabookworm.blogspot.com/2008/07/book-review-blue-gold.htmlIn Defense of Food book review:http://beabookworm.blogspot.com/2008/09/in-defense-of-food-multiple-reviews.htmlFast Food Nation (suggested future book club choice)http://www.powells.com/biblio/17-9780060938451-12Depletion and Abundance (suggested future book club choice)http://www.storycirclebookreviews.org/reviews/depletion.shtmlPlease make additional suggestions for future book reviews. Bibliophiles, we need your input. The book club is faltering and we could lose it completely if there is not more interest. If people no longer want to meet in person we could continue our discussions through our Permie ning site. However, it has been my experience that permies are not using the ning site as much as is possible. I know we are all busy but if we want our sustainability book club to continue we need to be actively involved. So, how about it folks – let’s get some suggestions, online reviews, and motivation going. Please note: we are not going to meet in December. We will try to resume our book club meetings in January – 2nd Sat.Thank you for your interest and cooperation,Lindy

  • I'd like to read Fast Food Nation first, it's been on my list but I haven't gotten around to it. I am not familiar with ning, but I think I'd prefer meeting in person.

    • Hi Roy, You mentioned not being familiar with .ning - this is it. This Phoenix Permaculture site is hosted on a social platform with the odd-sounding name of .ning (there are many other social network sites as well).

As for "Fast Food Nation" - I'll put you on the list for voting for this book for our Jan. read.

So far you are the only person who has responded - let's hope more people will take a couple of minutes to voice their opinion on this subject.

      Thanks for you post,
      Lindy

  • Hi Cindy - Thank you for your response. We are looking at either Fast Food Nation or Depletion and Abundance for January. No one has come forth with additional book title suggestions. These are two I have suggested and two of many I want to read. If you have any suggestions I would be most happy to hear them.

    Thanks, Lindy
  • Lindy, I love to read; however, I don't like to attend reading groups. I like the idea of discussion via this platform. What book should I read?
