I have two 4-month old point of lay hens that were hatched on our farm. They are Australorp/Buff Orpington and Australorp/Barred Rock mixes. We are selling them for $15 each.
I've looked on craigslist and see plenty of them. We just bought 11- 5 from craigslist (4 from same flock and same breed roo) and 6 from a neighbor who just moved into a new house and didn't have time to deal with chickens yet.
I'd try to introduce all the ones you want to introduce around the same time so they get establish that pecking order right away and not have to worry about it again.
Although not an expert.. I've noticed that groups which were together tend to stick together and try to keep their own pecking orders. My 4 hens stick together and the roo is starting to court them... he's usually with them. The other 6 hens always stick together and are dominant overthe other 5 (but those 6 are also fully grown and the 5 are 4 months).
