Eggs in this heat

My only laying hen wants to lay right in the middle of the day! Without fail, it is always right after noon, and when I'm at work, I worry about it being in the heat 'cooking' till I can get home and get it out. How long can it be out in this heat before it would not be good?

  • That does make sense - but it seems unnatural to those of use who have 'only' ever purchased refrigerated eggs from a store. :) This will take some learning and getting used to! :) Thank you for the comments and advice.
  • I think they are fine. Sometimes if I'm too busy I don't get the eggs until the next day....so far so good, no food poisoning etc! Plus when they are first laid they are very warm to the touch, so I think that continuing to be warm won't hurt them, as long as they aren't laying in direct sunlight I would imagine.
  • Here is Sallys first egg. I was so exicted!

  • Great! I didn't want them to go to waste. Thank you.
  • i have been told they are ok and I don't collect eggs until the end of the day. My whole family has been eating them for weeks.
