Check Mike's Hay Barn on Carefree Highway. Our last order of chicks with them was a fantastic experience, very healthy birds. They get a variety of chicks in regularly (if you catch him before a hatchery order, he'll sometimes adjust the order to fit your needs, as he did for me.), and have a ranch/farm very close that houses their laying hens. As of a few days ago, I know they have very young layers and pullets approaching point of lay at the best prices I've come across yet. Mike is super, his wife is a Veterinarian, and his dad looks after the chickens and sells the eggs. Knowledgeable and some of the nicest people I've met. Good luck!

Mikes Hay Barn II, 515 E Carefree Hwy, Phoenix, AZ. Phone: 623-414-4346
Stockmans at 75th and buckeye has the black australorps and americanas, you might try calling around. I find ordering chicks online costs a lot more than buying locally. Usually I buy my chicks anywhere from $2 to $3.50 at the most. Rhode Island reds and Americanas are extremely common to find in South Phoenix at least.
I was going to put up a post asking if anyone wanted to go in with me on a purchase from McMurray Hatchery. I only want four chicks, and the minimum is 25. Any interest?

yes , we were thinking to get two of each. When will you get them in if you did order them?

Me too, I'm looking for layers. McMurray allows you to select sex. I'll put up my own discussion asking if anyone wants to go in with us. We need a minimum of 25 chicks and between us we have 10, so we need another 15.
Check out the website (McMurray Hatchery) and they have a list of what's available when (here's the link to that page -Available).

Saw the Black Autralorps at Western Ranchman the other day. Call first to make sure they are still there!
Pet Food Depot and the Feed Barn also usually have chicks. I'd recommend getting them in town if you can.

We also would like to only get pullets.
