Due to some lifestyle changes around here, we have decided to seek a good home with an experienced chicken keeper for our 4 girls. All are about 1.5 years old, 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Buff Orphingtons. We also have a huge custom-built coop with next box that we would be willing to give you. We're located in North Central Phoenix, give us a PM with phone number, etc. if you are interested in taking a look.

Thanks!

  • Hi everyone, I want to update the thread, that we have found a new home for the chickens and the coop. Thanks so much to everyone who responded, we really appreciate it!

    • Jennifer,

We are so glad you were able to adopt our chickens and take the coop off of our hands. We know you will provide a great home! Also, we have to hand it to your husband and his friends for getting that coop out of here!

      Best regards,

      Jenn and Thomas

  • Jenn and Thomas,

If you get the coop apart in moveable pieces (and able to be re-assembled) I can come get it with my two friends and the trailer on Sunday if you  need it removed. It's gonna take some work to take it apart and put back together.

  • Hi all, so we have had a couple of folks come out, but so far, no one has had quite the right resources to get this coop out our yard :)

We'll keep calling down the list, but let me add some more information that was missing from my original posts, that is critical for anyone wanting to take the coop:

    • The coop is massive! Dimensions: 69" wide x 116" long x 84" h (at tallest end). You need to have a pretty wide/long flatbed trailer if you want to take it while still assembled.
    • There is a carport roof that is a little shorter than the height of the coop, that has to be navigated. Thus, the coop may have to be partially disassembled (potentially sawing part of it off, then re-attaching at your location).
    • It is heavy. Probably need 4 strong people to carry it out.

At this point, if someone wants to adopt just the chickens, and has adequate / proper coop space to take them in, let me know. Also, let me say that one of the chickens is way at the bottom of the pecking order...the others are a bit mean to her as far as letting her eat/drink, so we are looking for someone who is able to provide a little extra TLC to make sure she is cared for.

    Thanks,

    Jenn and Thomas

    • I have a gentle group of 9 chickens that your 4 would be a good addition to.  We have a huge free-range yard too.

Let me know, I can come get them tonight.  I have no need for the coop, but could help you disassemble and remove if this weekend.  I have a large truck and many tools including saws.  One way or another we will get it out of there!

  • Thanks everyone who replied. We are going down the list in the order received, and will update this thread once the chickens and coop have found a new home.
  • We live in Gilbert and would be happy to have them, we have a truck and trailer to get it all out of your yard. We were waiting for the cool down to build our own but yours looks great.

  • Hi -  we are thinking of this, but are not experienced.  We live in Cave Creek.  Let us know.

  • I have a truck and plenty of room on my mini-ranch!  I am in Central/East Phoenix (32nd and Oak).    They'd be a welcome addition to my flock of nine.

  • Hi Jenn and Thomas,

Just saw your post as we returned from camping near TNC Hart Prairie Preserve with out twin 6 year old girls. We have been waiting till it cooled down a bit to get some "chicks" and build a coop. We would looooooove them if they do not have a home and have a trailer and a truck to bring them home.

    Let me know.

    Many thanks,
