  The coop is really cool - looks like there is just enough room for 4? Is the nest box going on the long end? I love the door that opens up all the way...

  Duh - didn't look far enough on the pictures - this computer stuff is still confusing to me - I didn't even realize I was on your page - thought I was still on mine ;0) Oh well, I'm learning lots of new skills lately - hopefully the newest will involve a little chicken poop by weekend's end.

  Thanks so much for seeing the ad and posting it - my husband found the updated one and it has pictures of the hens but not the coop ;-{ He called on the hens and they only have the three yellow ones left and I think the coop - he is (I think) doing the deal as we speak - OMG, we might be parents again!! Are the new pictures you posted on your home page? I suspect we are still building a coop even if we get this one - maybe just reusing the materials.

  I really like the tractor option but he prefers a coop that stays put - I suspect that is because I will be shoveling the manure ;0). Seems like your 4 girls are pretty happy with the space they have - do you let them out to roam at all? As I am looking at the pictures it seems like there is no wire, just grass, in the pen area. Do you have a picture with the large door open? I was curious about the inside. We are still discussing designs and I am looking forward to the chicken class tomorrow to ask some more questions. BTW - really creative use of a dog crate for the veggies in the picture - are they in trays or have they grown up through the bottom? I have 2 crates I never use but can't bear to part with...

  Are you enjoying your chicken tractor? Love the design - was it something you put together? Awesome! We are torn about whether to build an enclosed coop or use a tractor - my DH votes enclosed coop with bib yard - we live in Sunburst Farms (W Phx) and have seen an owl on our property, have dogs and cats, and have seen big hawks as well - wild! I thought of a tractor so that we can fertilize different areas and give new views for the chickens...still in planning stages, we are only expecting 4 hens, maybe one rooster...any thoughts?

  The chicks came from "The Feedlot" feed store in NW Phx, They will be 4 months old on the 25th of this month, so hopefully eggs soon. The coop is 4' wide by 8' long, the blue side panels are one 4x8 sheet of OSB cut in half by the hardware store. I'd guess that I spent about $50 on materials and used a fair amount of leftovers from other projects, like the paint I got most of my ideas from http://www.forshamcottagearks.com/
  The coop took 3 or 4 weekends to build, mostly my friend's labor. Neither of us have any carpentry experience, so it came out pretty good considering... Still to be done, nest box, round the ends of the handles (ouch!) and paint the handles and roof guttering.

  I'm curious what streets you live near. We bought a house near Hardy and 10th Street a year ago. I just replied to your question about wood chipper sharing, and it sounds like we live pretty close to each other. I'd love to see your front garden. My husband and I are just getting started on our front and back yards (our back sounds almost like yours :-).
