  • Thank you so much for the advice.  I even have the boards.  The biggest issue is just how little soil is left once the rocks have been removed.  I am going to get massive amounts of compost and horse manure which I have found on Craigs list and let it stew for awhile.  I will have to dig atleast 2  - 3 feet to get under the caliche to provide enough drainage.  Going to see how we can do that with some kind of machine...maybe a hole digger or small bob cat.

"I recomend partialy rasied beds filled with compost mixed with soil 50/50. This can be done on the cheep using 6" fence boards $2ea. If you use fresh horse dung keep moist and wait 3 weeks before planting."
