what size for nesting box

We are building our coop and originallyy thought nesting boxes should be 12 x 12 x 12 but now it seems as though I am reading some people use 14 x 14 x 14.Which size do most people use?

    14X14X14. It won't hurt to give them a bit of extra room, and it might help keep them a fraction of a degree cooler when they're laying in the summer. ;)

      Thanks for the responses. We took the advice and made them 14 x 14.

    Hi Roxanne, mine are a little over 12 x 12. I have 2 Ameracaunas and 2 Barred Rocks that use them. They seem to have enough room and haven't complained to me yet.

    mine are about 16 x 16 but i had the room to make them that big.. 12 x 12 sounds a bit small to me if you have large hens
