Predator Deterrent?

Hi Folks,

Thought I would post this for those with predator problems of your chickens and livestock.

This clever young man in Africa came up with a way to deter the lions from attacking their cows.

I wonder if this would work against some of the predators we have here, particularly when your property is nearer the desert?  I would like the flashing would have to be very random to be effective.

  • BRILLIANT!!!  Now... any ideas on deterring Harris hawks?  :)

    • Ginger, I actually made a 'spider web' of white yarn over my hen's yard.  A visual barrier deters the hawks.  After twice chasing the hawks away from my girls when I had them I used the tree in the center of the yard as the center and just strung white yarn back and forth between the branches and the fencing all the way around - the yard was about 20 x 10 feet and it worked like a charm.  No hawks after that.
