What to do about summer vacation? We'll be gone for a couple of weeks the end of July and need a chicken sitter, I guess. We're at Glendale & 16th Street and would really feel better about leaving if someone who has chickens might "sit" for us.I teach, so would be glad to offer reciprocal services if anybody is close by.Thanks!

8 hens. I'd let me neighbor do it, but she forgot to water my plants last year until the morning we were coming home. I was able to do some damage control afterwards (cut off all the dead leaves), but that won't work with the chickens. Are you close by and how many chickens do you have? I wonder if this is a challenge for anybody else?
Yes, with our 4 new ducks, we're wondering if we'll be able to go anywhere! the garden can be watered every other day, and until today, the ducks could be too. But now they are getting bigger, they splash all the water out of their little pond. I'll have to get a kiddie pool. AND now that we know what's causing the tomatos to crack, they will have to be watered every day.
Probably the only thing would be to see if there are people that each could come every other day.
we can put a timer on the drip and have that come on I think. We have a dog feeder that has a timer. we have two small 'pools' for the ducks. So I suppose we could manage to be gone for 2 nites. Or we could have young duck frozen in the freezer, but that would negate the reason for getting the ducks [eggs & meat]
However, with Steve laid off, the only two places we can afford to go are camping and to the timeshare in Sedona. So maybe it's not a big deal.
The trade I have is to do the same for whomever does it for us and spa treatments. Steve can fix/build computers and do yard work. He's good at almost anything he sets his mind too.
What are the dates? (you can email me off list if you want ben.ruesga@gmail.com ) We are leaving July 24th, but if you need help before that you are right on my way to work.
