  • Hi Robert, I just sent you a friend request.  I am a education coordinator at Montessori Academy and we are starting vermicomposting and would love some worms.  The school is located off Invergorden and McDonald.  Please let me know. Thanks, Alley

  • I could use some worms where is the roadrunner market and when are you there? or I live in Central Phoenix do you ever go there?
  • Thanks Robert...I think i found out my answer....keep the worms in the bin. I'm still not sure what to do with them...I'm punting my way through this....I just keep feeding them and they seem to gravitate toward that bottom bin and make it "goopy." So, I scoop them out and put them in the top bin and in time they go right back there. I don't have any 'tea' yet....so, you can see, I have no clue what I'm doing. I've misplaced my worm paper you'd given me.....any thoughts would be great...thanks...

"bat guano is superior to worm castings. Worm casts are dependent on the substrate that the worms feed on. The  plant material(intended as worm food) will decompose---with or without worms-- and the nutrients within are limited to what was originally…"

Robert Fenchak posted a discussion in Soil Builders
I've always heard that the two best fertilizers are worm castings and bat guano.  I know worm castings are great from my experience with farming worms, but does anyone know anything about bat guano?

Robert Fenchak replied to Steven Tweito's discussion Unwanted pests in the worm bin. in Soil Builders
"Something else you might try is to blend your food. All my compost for a 3 day period goes into a "Ninja". Then I pour it into my worm farms. I stay away from grass clippings and Oleanders. I find yard debris brings a lot of critters with it."

"Hi Alley,
Sounds good.  I'm usually off on Wednesdays and the weekends.  I live in Phoenix, just south of Anthem.  Maybe we could pick a spot to meet between our locations.  Are you just looking for one pound?
Robert"
