Most growers choose to prune back the berry plants (boysenberries are really a kind of blackberry) in the fall. I'm glad yours took off. You have a couple of choices at this point. Leave it all be, or cut everything back except 4-6 canes, depending on how large it is. Whips may root if they touch the ground, so you have choices also about how much spread you want out of the plant.
