Hi Nadine, Sorry to take so long to get back to you about the Salmonella outbreaks in vegetables. Salonella is not inherent in vegetables rather it is a bacteria that lives in the fecal matter of humans or other large carnivores or on skins of reptiles. The outbreaks are a problem with the sanitation facilities, or lack there of, in the fields where the vegetables are harvested. As long as you do not use the manure of carnivores as fertilizer for for your vegetables, salmonella should not be a problem for you. Good question! Heather
