You are absolutely right, squash produce both male and female flowers. Your plants have obviously been well pollinated because you have the actual squash present on your vines. If you are pleased with the number of squash present on your plant, you can always harvest the large male flowers and eat them (Stuffed Squash Blossoms are amazingly tasty) and that will reduce further pollination, squash production and give you another edible opportunity. Sounds like you are having fun over there!
