  • Hi Kate:

    Sure, I'd be happy to show you around anytime. 

    There are some basic rules of thumb for AP systems. 

    1 adult fish (1lb) per 5-10 gallons of water and 1 square foot of grow bed per fish or 5-10 gallons or water.  I recommend going with more water per fish if you are not going to watch your system carefully.  This gives your system a little wiggle room during harvest and other stresses.

    example a 4' x8' grow bed is 32 square feet of grow space.  therefore you should have a max of 32 adult fish  and any amount of water OVER 320 gallons in the fish tank/pond.  If your fish/ratio is less than 1 fish per 10 gallons (as recommended) you may want to have a bigger pump to cycle the nutrients more than once an hour (min rule of other thumb ;-)

    Remember this is a moving target.  The fish grow bigger and your plant load varies, that's why I recommend less fish and more water.
