I spend alot of time working my compost pile and my husband built me a compost tumbler. But alas I can be pretty lazy at times and do not work them as consistantly as I could.
Yesterday I had an epiphany. Husband Steve was building on to Princess Abigail's castle, so I cleaned out her coop. I had been putting fall leaves, grass clippings and the occaisional flake of straw in there for her and her lady in waiting Berniece to enrich and to play in. I raked out the coop and found that I had beautiful compost. I put it right into the beds that I will be planting in soon. I realized that I have been working harder than I needed to. Abigail and Berniece seem to be more than happy to provide me with compost. So once Steve was done with the palace, I tossed in another bag of grass clippings, and more dried leaves. I will pay more attention and see if they can provide me with beautiful compost in 14-28 days like my tumbler (when properly used) does.
