My Composting efforts.

I spend alot of time working my compost pile and my husband built me a compost tumbler. But alas I can be pretty lazy at times and do not work them as consistantly as I could.

Yesterday I had an epiphany. Husband Steve was building on to  Princess Abigail's castle, so I cleaned out her coop. I had been putting fall leaves, grass clippings and the occaisional flake of straw in there for her and her lady in waiting Berniece to enrich and to play in. I raked out the coop and found that I had beautiful compost. I put it right into the beds that I will be planting in soon. I realized that I have been working harder than I needed to. Abigail and Berniece seem to be more than happy to provide me with compost. So once Steve was done with the palace, I tossed in another bag of grass clippings, and more dried leaves. I will pay more attention and see if they can provide me with beautiful compost in 14-28 days like my tumbler (when properly used) does.

  • Isn't it a great feeling when you find something like this? It seems like magic and its really just nature and its been going on forever, we are just now taking the time to see it. Continue to have fun, go Abigail and Berniece!!
    • It really is nice. How did we ever come so far away from our roots?
