Eggplant

My lovely Black Beauty eggs plants (26 of them) not fully grown yet are all turning orange on the out- side and don't look nice at all. Is it the heat? Any ideas. I never dreamed I could come up with so many questions until I started arid gardening in Phoenix!:)

    I have the same variety. Mine are not turning orange but I have had varieties turn yellow before, it sounds to me like you have waited to long to pick them. Pick one and cut it open and see if it is really seedy. My Black beauties didn't get as big as they say. I just picked some the other day and they were maybe 4-5 inches long, they were good. I know if you leave them too long they're not any good.
