Composting material out of my pool skimmer?

Can I compost the material I frequently take out of the pool skimmer? Lots of leaves, flowers, ect. I've thought about washing them off with hose water, than leaving them out to dry before throwing into my bin. Any thoughts for and against would be appreciated. BTW, I Hot compost. Thx,Augie

    No need to wash off...Why? And there is so many other things to throw in like: paper towels, old cotton socks! Anything that came from nature can go back to nature..And any chemicals if you can swim in are safe enough to go in the compost...They will break down very quickly. We compost everything: egg shells, shrimp tails, all food scraps except meat.

    I choose not to because the salts that are included with the chlorine. You don't want to add salts to our already salty soil/water.
