  • Last I know of, Ken does not deliver. I do offer up my services for soil delivery (Tuesday-Friday). Will generally run about $50-$75 (plus cost of material) to delivery in the general Phoenix-Metro area (within the 101 loop).

I have a 5'x8' trailer which carries just over 1ton.

You can contact me directly anytime.

  • Many thanks to everyone for all the info. We decided to fold up all the seats in the Suburban and I will go to Singhs by myself (no car seats for the kids since the seas are not there) to get as many big bags as I can fit.... then we will roll them into a wheelbarrow to get them to the garden. If I need more, I can drive back before 2. I love having a plan!
  • Anne, do you know if the table exchange will take the burlap bags back so that they can be used again? Those are some nice bags, but not everyone would have a need to keep them around after the compost is gone.
  • It should work fine, Anne, thanks! My son is coming to take care of Greta for me while I go to Target, but I'll be sure I'm here when you drop by. Then, you all can meet our new puppy Greta, whom I've nicknamed "little box of snakes" (for the wiggling she does) and "snapping crocodile" for the puppy bites!
  • I think a truck bed load is $60. I do not know if they deliver, they might for a fee of course. I am pretty sure that they are open to the public only on Saturdays. Something like 10 AM- 2 PM?

If you are wanting to check out the compost, a bag would be a way to do it and not have a pile of it around. We always get a truck load because we borrow a friends truck for a few hours and it makes sense to have it around. We would zip through a burlap bag pretty quickly. Ken suggests spreading it around the garden as you tend it, like a top dressing. That does work really well. It is rather woody and so he also suggests mixing his compost 50/50 with your soil on site.
    • Yes, a truck load is $60. I thought the Saturday hours were 7 am to 3 pm, but maybe they've changed?
    • Oops! I meant to say until 2 pm.
    • You are probably right on the time. I couldn't remember so 10 AM seemed safe to mention :)
    • I'd much rather wake up to get there by 10:00 am than 7:00, lol!
    • Yeah, that was really my motivation! As some may know, we are lazy gardeners...
