This may be helpful for anyone wanting to know/see the difference between the 2 species of Mesquite. It was helpful to me...Also the Velvet Mesquite (our native Mesquite) the pods taste nice and sweet/fruity. The Chilean Mesquite (introduced/not native) has a very different taste, it taste astringent and chalky.Anyway, I hope this helps :o)
