I finally got my 2 chicks yesterday. I knew I would love them, but I love them more than I even thought I would and so does my family. Already! They both keep streaching their legs back behind them. Is this a sign of anything. I have a light coating of pine shavings down. Thanks for your help in advance.Theresa

Stretching is perfectly normal. Can you add just one more chick now (while they're young before pecking order is established) for "insurance" purposes? Chickens are extremely social. If one dies later, then you'd unfortunately have a lone chicken.
It means that they've been cramped in a tiny egg their whole life and they're enjoying being able to stretch out. :)
Really, they're just stretching. They usually hold one wing out when they do it.
