Need to Re-Home a Hen

Trying this again as the last time was a study of Murphy's Law...

I have a hen that's getting picked on by my other girls and I'd like to find a new home for her. She's a beautiful girl that only recently started laying and was hatched in February.

I'm hoping to get $15 for her and we're located just north of McDowell between 24th & 32nd St in Phoenix.

Here are a couple pictures of her hiding from the others and wandering the yard:

  • She's beautiful: I would love to take her off your hands. I currently have one chicken and she needs a companion. ;) Please contact me:  swvalentine@gmail.com and we can discuss pickup details. Thanks Michelle, Simona

  • Do you know what breed she is?
  • She's pretty! Is she a new one to the flock, or younger than the others? Sometimes, you can use a cage or fence to separate the pickers from the pickee for a while and they get used to each other and stop picking. Well, they stop picking evilly. They will always peck because there's a natural pecking order. I've had underlings who have matured into the rulers of the roost over time.

    • Thanks Sheri for that great advice! She is younger and that's how I introduced her (and her sister that didn't make it through the summer heat) to the flock. The older girls seemed fine with them until they had to share their food and roosting bars with the new girls.

Now they chase her away from the food and water, and they won't let her roost inside the coop - She's out in the run on a make-shift perch I rigged for her.
