  • Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for posting our class here.  We're excited to teach this class and help others learn how to raise and process their own chickens for meat.  Last fall we did a similar class, but included how to process turkeys.

Sheri...I noticed you just joined the 'Growing Your Business' group at 48day.net.  I've been a part of that group for a number of years now.  It's been fun sharing our successes and defeats as well as reading how others are progressing in their own ventures.  And they're all 'smart cookies.'  Whenever I have questions, I turn to that group.

Please, let me know if anyone has any questions.

  • Good post!

We'll also be running a processing class. Ours will be on May 5th. It must be the season! :)

I'll post information in the next day or two. We'll be running two classes of 10; a morning class & an  afternoon class.

    • The classes are a great service...We did everything from rabbits, chickens, turkeys and squirrels to deer, elk, cattle and pigs. It was a good thing we were willing to learn from our neighbors back then! And I cannot say enough good things about the County Extension Service, 4H, and Boy Scouts of America! Especially in our rural counties, where I spent most of the past 40 years. Great memories, and tremendous knowledge.

    • I so agree! Home agriculture is almost a lost art, yet it's so fulfilling and healthful. I'm so happy there's a resurgence in interest!
