Encanto chickens

Hello All,

 

I am looking at a house in the Encanto neighborhood and I'm wondering if anyone knows if there are people in the area who keep chickens.  I know that you have to get permission from the neighbors but was just wondering if anyone knows if the neighborhood is chicken friendly in general.  I really don't want to fall in love with this house if I won't be able to keep my girls.  How have other people handled moving to (or even considering) new areas when they already have chickens that they are attached to (and couldn't bear to part with)?  Thanks, Lori

    We live in FQ Story and we have chickens. Not 100% sure about Encanto, but I haven't heard of any issues with keeping chickens in surrounding neighborhoods.

    Lori,

    In the past, when I have been house hunting, I have made it a point to try to acquaint myself with the neighbors before hand.

    When a house goes up for sale, the neighbors watch pretty close the goings on. They are interested in who may end up living in their neighborhood. If they are receptive to your interest in getting to know them, they will be willing to share their attitudes about chickens with you. If they are not receptive to your friendly behavior, they would have probably not made good neighbors anyway.

    My parents live in that neighborhood and one day when I was driving though, I saw some chickens in a front yard.  I don't remember the address but I think it was on Encanto Drive SE.  Sorry I can't give you more.  When I am there next, I will look up the house number.
