I have 3 chickens and I hear they are good to keep tick population down. I plan on using them to attack a potential tick problem we might have by letting them roam around the yard. I have only found one tick on my dog but I'm not taking any chances this year. We had a mass infestation about 2 years ago. I will use an exterminator but I am looking for an exterminator that has experience with yards that have chickens. I have used an exterminator in the past that did not work for us. It was a cedar-oil based exterminator. Can't remember their name. Does anyone have experience working with an exterminator that can help us with this? Thank you.

cork is a natural pest deterrent. I know of a gal who eventually put cork floor throughout her home to get rid of the tick problem they had. Ticks hate cork, they will run away from the stuff!
Thanks for the recommendation, everyone. I have 8 chickens that roam around the yard, but they haven't eliminated the tick problem. I'm very diligent about finding and removing any ticks, but my dog still gets them, and I've determined that I definitely need an exterminator.

Did you try dusting dog and yard with DE? Ticks. UGH! I feel for you.
Cassandra, this is a great question. The only "natural" pest control company I know is Ladybug Pest Control. But I don't know of their experience with chickens. http://ladybugcorp.com/ Good luck!

You might try LadyBug Exterminators. They try to do everything as naturally as possible.
