why do you want your chickens to fly?
All of my birds are free range; chickens, guineas and peafowl, they are all trained to sleep in 2 specific trees in the yard at night so at dusk everyone starts making the trek to the tree they live in, hop up on a chair and fly into the tree and then fly out at sunrise. If they are not comfortable flying I would be afraid they would be injured going up or down. We have predators here; coyotes, etc. so for their safety they need to be in the trees at night.
