Another Free Rooster/Cockerel

LOL Vickiinaz beat me to the punch.

So yea my roo is 19 weeks old.  He is a  Blue-wheaten Large Fowl Ameraucana.

He is the sweetest bird i have right now and will roost on my shoulder in the late evening.  He is one of my favorites but I dont really want my neghibors hating me so he must go.  I currently am trying to find a home for him and not a place where he will be a meal.  We will see what happens if I have no takers.

Let me know if you have any questions.

  • So my wife just said we have to wait until the bird crows before we get rid of it LOL. She is hoping its a Manly pullet but i really have my doubts since he is colored exactly as he should be if he were a male.

Let me know if anyone is interested as I have no doubt that he will crow here any day.

I share my wife's sentiment and wish it was a manly girl but I am 85% sure its a roo.

    Thanks
    Shaun
    • I think you should wait for it to crow too. I have a hen that I swear looks like a rooster, but it's not! I have a broody hen also and am thinking of letting her hatch a few eggs. She is a Buff Orpington (I have several other breeds too) and my rooster is a Silkie so I don't know what I'd end up with.
  • I really like the blue & green eggs!!!
  • Where did you get him?
    Susan
    • From a friend who got the eggs from a local Blue-wheaten Ameraucana breeder.
    • I hate it when a chick decides to go 'rooster'! It always seems to be the coolest chicken too. It's funny, though, when they start that puberty crow that sounds like they can't quite get it out :). Do you think you have any fertile eggs from him, or is he too young? I would love to try and hatch a few...they're beautiful. Maybe the breeder's contact info?
    • No fertile eggs since almost all of the girls are the same age 19 weeks. I have four older girls but they are all silkies. The americaunas and most of the rest havent started laying yet.

I will see if i can get the breeders info for you. On BYC his name is Mahonri if you ever go over there. But I know he is taking a break from the BYC forums for a while. I recently asked him what he charged for Fertile eggs since as i said i do have a few old girls and one has gone broody but havent heard back from him yet. I will let you know.

  • Sorry I can't take him. He is gorgeous and Ameracaunas are my favorites.
