I was hoping to breed some chickens next spring and was wondering if I could borrow a rooster from someone. I know Myron borrowed Don's(?) for a weekend, I was hoping to have one for a week to ensure some fertile eggs next spring. I would just buy one, but most of my neighbors would not be happy about that. I don't have any broody breeds so I'm going to build an incubator (they have several plans for them on the internet, especially if you search on backyardchickens.com).

That would be just fine! I wonder if the resulting offspring would lay eggs that were in between the mother and father or if it would go one way or the other. I've read that egg color is passed down from the roosters...
