Hello fellow seed harvesters. Some of your favorite plants are probably getting ready to go to seed, ripe for harvesting. Think about contributing some of your precious seeds to the Seed Library. We have been gathering quite a selection but always need more locally grown seed. Seal them into a paper envelope or packet with as much information as you can. (see seed donation info) and drop them off at the VPA office. Thank you so much.
Please call the office before coming in for seeds, to make sure someone is there to assist you. Hours of operation usually 9-5 Mon-Thurs, Fridays 9-3.
Thank you Karen.
Kathy, I have put down July 13th to help. Can't commit to August right now. Let me know if we are meeting up tomorrow, the 30th!
If you are enthusiastically inclined to support the Seed Library.... We need you! Second Saturday of each month at the Glendale Library, 12-3pm. Contact me if you can cover the Seed Library at least one Saturday afternoon out of the year. It's really fun and people are so thankful for gardening knowledge.
Pima County's Library has a Facebook page with some great stuff on it. https://www.facebook.com/PimaSeedLibrary
What are the hours when the seed bank is open?
Hi HL -- Thank you for the comment. We will check into the technical problem! The seed library is open during our business hours 9am - 6pm. Please email seeds@vpaaz.org when you will be dropping by so I can make sure someone is present in the office to assist you.
Heather-- You do not need to do a germ test, just label as much info as you can when you bring the seeds in. Maybe note how old they are!
Thank you!
I have a ton (well not really) but a lot of dried safflower that I can harvest seeds from. I will be checking some in soon! Love it!! I have a question, if the seed is older (I have a bunch of beet seeds, too) should we do a germ test on it before bringing it in?
