Hi Patrick, I have participated in a few bale projects in Taos, NM and Tucson several years ago. Then I left AZ and moved into structural bamboo home building and sales for about 7 years for a company based in Hawaii.
I'm back in Phx now and settling down into a my new old slump block home. My goal is to wrap the house in bales someday to improve the energy efficiency and appearance of the house. I am pulling together some research now and looking for other people with experience in straw bale building and more specifically straw bale retrofits.
So far, I haven't come across too many people with actual hands on experience with a bale wrap retrofit. There is one contractor in NM who is familiar with bale retrofits and has completed several projects. He has been pretty helpful so far.
Have you had any experience in retrofitting a home with a straw bale wrap?

Happy New Year to you too! Yes, I am definitely still interested in building a strawbale home. I just moved out of my home and will be moving into my parent's home. I hate moving! I have too much stuff to get rid off. I will set a meeting for you and Elizabeth to come and get a feel for the neighborhood and stuff. I'm trying to get settled and then I will contact you soon after. I haven't had any further contact with the guy from Aprovecho yet. God Bless You!
