What can you tell me about those"Thrasher" birds? I have caught some birds pecking my sprouts, beans and squash, and pulling them out or tearing the leaves off without eating them. Punks!!! It's like they are little garden terrorists! I put strips of tin foil around the seedlings yesterday. It would be a shame to have to completely enclose every plant in netting.
I grew up eatting the leaves, Filipino-style, in Hawaii and it was called Kalamungay there. I purchased 10 seeds from Florida and have given away 4, killed 1, planted 1 and will be planting the other 4 in pots to see where they grow the best. My sister is going to send me some seeds from Hawaii, so I will let you know when they arrive and I'll be happy to share.
