Hi, Dr. George! We have 14 almost-fingerlings and a lot of fry that are doing well. Would you like to get them soon? Let me know and we'll work out the details. :) We aren't quite ready for shrimp yet. We have some adjustments to make with our tanks & will be turning the above-ground one into a floating bed tank for the shrimp. The below-ground tank will hold the tilapia and feed the ebb & flow system. But we'll be ready soon.
You might want to check out CraigsList, a free online classifieds listing. If you go to http://phoenix.craigslist.org/ and on the upper left hand corner there is a search box. Type in Tilapia in the search box and it will bring up all the ads with that word in the ad anywhere. On each ad the person who posted it will have put their contact info or used the Craigslist service to create a privacy screen. In the heading of the ad will be a reply to saleblahblah@craigslist When you reply to this email, CraigsList forwards it to the person who posted the ad. When I just checked there were 2 recent ads for Tilapia for sale.
Thank you very much for the class, I enjoyed your presentation. I would love to have you come look at my system that has been going since October. I am located in Tempe, about a mile from ASU. It is in my front yard and consists of a 320 gallon in-ground fish tank stocked with Minnows and Tilapia and a grow bed that is approx 2'x2'x16' It is definitely still a science experiment, but almost everything is surviving - knock on wood!
Also I found some online sources of Tilapia that I would be interested in your opinion.
Dr. Brooks: My father is flying in from Iowa and will be here July 1-10th. He is very interested in aquaponics and wondered if you might know someone who would be willing to show us their set up while he is here? Thank you for your help!

"Greetings. The photo was taken in December 2015. It is a new concept in aquaponics called S-CAp (Self-Contained Aquaponics). It is not as simple as it looks but much simpler and easier than traditional techniques. I am developing a website about it…"
"OMG...
I think I now have an idea of what to do with my too expensive to run hot tub with the leaky heater...bypass the heater and try this. What time of year was this photo taken?"
"Hi Dr. Brooks,
I was curious about the production of a land bed to compare to the 9lb/2feet/10 months. I actually found an article by Rosalind Creasy and Cathy Barash in Mother Earth News on an experiment they did together.…"
"Greetings Dan. Yes you saw the idea of a Tour de Tanks recently on the Arizona Aquaponics page on Facebook. I think it is a great idea. But again, I am biased ;-)"
"Greetings Catherine. Thanks for the question. Yes. Called SCAp (Self Contained Aquaponics) particular type of aquaponics is a new techniques designed to lower operating and construction costs by about 2/3rds while maintaining production rates equal…"
"Hi Dr. Brooks: Is it feasible and economical to incorporate these type of hydroponic and/or aquaponic setups in community gardens? My question is more of an intellectual-exploring-the-idea question. I am sure it can be done. Is it a good idea? …"
Well, there has been no discussion here since November 2015 so I thought I would through in this local (Phoenix) photo as a catalyst. There are now 4 of these in operation and the number is growing.
"Are there any weekend classes for beginners? I am way out in the west valley and hoping for opportunities to learn about this system and how to implement it in my backyard. "
