Hi Everyone! My name is Chi. I don't live in AZ. I found this sitecruising the web when I stumbled on Rachel's post. It inspired me tomake my own system. I noticed a lot of systems are a lil um "3rd world"looking for the lack of a better term. This is v1.0 for me to get allthe plumbing squared away. It is made with a 200 gallon tote, 4" ABSpipe for the grow beds. 500 gph pump. Right now it is all running onhouse power but in the spring when the storms are over will switch tosolar. Also it will get some cedar paneling around it so it will be morepresentable. Fish will be a mix of tilapia and channel catfish. I thinkI might need to add a settling tank but i'll see how it goes.
Any suggestions to improve the system are welcome.
Chi Ma--What a pretty greenhouse! Rachel and I are both on the site http://aquaponicscommunity.com/ which is a great way to connect with other aquaponic gardeners.
Rachel--Good luck with your 500 gallon in-ground system!! I'm so glad that it's almost ready to go--congratulations! Do you have a blog or website with some info about your system? Maybe you have some pictures on the aquaponics site already. I need to get started on my system which doesn't exist yet... Just dreaming still. It seems like every time I think about it, something important (namely my 2-year-old) needs more attention. I need to keep doing research a little at a time. I'm also thinking about starting small like you did, with a little system to get some practice.
