About Me:
I hope that Vpa is about community , folks working together for the common good. Can it be a force to help us protect our food source from the likes of Monsanto etc? Can someone tell me what IS the mission (stated and an also actually) of VPA?

Hi, Satnam,
The mission of Valley Permaculture Alliance is to inspire sustainability in the urban southwest. This website is a place where the community can share information, ideas, successes and failures primarily related to gardening and small livestock. VPA offers classes primarily related to gardening, with the understanding that permaculture is systems thinking and that each component like water harvesting, composting, raising chickens or quail, etc. is only a small part of designing an integrated permaculture system but that every step you take can help you better understand how to work better and more in harmony with nature. We do tours of gardens and urban farm set ups--something that I would like to do more of in the future--and also try to provide information related to native foods like mesquite. We can also direct you to other groups who focus on different aspects of permaculture, such as water harvesting, alternative energy and building techniques, etc. Every year, we offer a Permaculture Design Course that allows people to gain a much greater understanding of permaculture in its full context.
Best wishes,
Susan
